Abstract
Invalids with stoma form a group of individuals with specific restrictions of life activity related to severe diseases or trauma of the intestine or the urinary tract that result in stoma formation. The article presents results of a sociological analysis of principal causes that create main barriers to the integration of people with stoma into society conducted by questioning and survey and monitoring methods. The range of restrictions include somatic disorders, labor segregation, low income, constraints of social and living environment, information and legal, emotional and psychological as well as communication barriers.Barriers to integration of the invalids with stoma into society arise because of the lack of data on the socio-medical characteristics of the invalids with stoma as a group of invalids, their rehabilitation needs, disharmony in the relationship of the individual with a stoma with the society and the state.Therefore, the task of overcoming environmental constraints, which is a common concern of the society and the state, can be achieved by innovative principles of rehabilitation management.
